Austria quali: P8 and P15

Russian Time endured a tough opening day in the Styrian mountains as the F2 championship moved from the streets of Baku in Azerbaijan to the very different scenery of the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria.

After recording 10th and 12th quickest times respectively in morning practice, Luca Ghiotto (1m14.180s) and Artem Markelov (1m14.534s) qualified eighth and 15th respectively as both encountered problems with traffic. Championship leader Charles Leclerc (1m13.396) took pole position, ahead of Sergio Sette Camara and Antonio Fuoco.

Luca Ghiotto: «It's a relatively short lap at Red Bull Ring and so it is easy to get hampered by traffic, which is what happened today. The fourth row of the grid is not an ideal place to start but hopefully I will be able to overtake and challenge for strong points again.»

Artem Markelov: «Things did not go our way today. On my best lap on my first run I was blocked going into Turn 9 and had to lift off the throttle, then on the second run I was improving but there were yellow flags in sectors two and three with Sette Camara stopped on the circuit. It will be a tough race from so far back but I will give it my best as always.»

Svetlana Strelnikova (Team principal): «Both Luca and Artem did not have the best of sessions with regard to getting a clean lap but there are long straights and hard braking zones here in Austria, so it should be possible to attack in the race and possibly make use of good strategy. We will do everything we can to maximise performance and keep up our championship challenge.»
